A Special Month-Long Fundraising Campaign by MANIC Athletic in support of RCCS

MANIC Athletic raised $6K for Routt County Crisis Support during the Miles For Good - Moab 240 fundraising campaign.

Part of this fundraising effort was supported by my direct experience with RCCS as described in the outreach email below:

By now you may have seen an email or social media post about the fundraising efforts that Manic is doing for Routt County Crisis Support. Maybe you've overheard someone talking about it at the gym this week.

However, I’m guessing that there's a chance you may not be familiar with the organization, which is why I’d like to let you know how RCCS helped me.

On Thursday October 14th, 2021, I was one of several witnesses to a fatal accident on Fish Creek Falls Road near the intersection of Oak and Third Streets. It was an extremely traumatic experience for everyone involved, including those who saw what occurred.

Within 24 to 48 hours of the incident, a member of the Routt County Crisis Support Team had located and contacted as many witnesses as they could. They wanted to reach out and offer help. At the time I received the invitation for counseling, I agreed to go but I didn’t think that I needed ‘help’. After all, I was only a bystander. I wasn't in one of the vehicles. I had no cuts, scraps, bruises, broken bones or stitches. I hadn't gone to the ER. I was alive and uninjured.

I was wrong, I did need to speak with a professional. RCCS knew that I needed help before I did; and their team made sure that I got it as soon as possible. Looking back, if I hadn’t received counseling at the time that I did, there’s a chance I would still be afraid to go outside. Afraid to open my front door. Afraid to look out of my windows at night.

The session they offered proved to be invaluable for my ability to process the event and for my brain to begin to ‘heal’. This is why I’m dedicating my training miles for the Moab 240 in March to RCCS and why I’m asking for your support for this special organization.
